July 12, 2009 - Hawaiian Airlines was rated the #1 airline serving Hawaii. One of the travel industry's most popular publications, Travel + Leisure will publish the results for its World Best Awards in its August issue, ranking the best hotels, airlines, cruise lines, tour outfitters, car rental agencies, cities and islands worldwide.
April 6, 2009 - Hawaiian Airlines was named the nation’s top-ranked carrier for service quality in 2008 in the 19th Annual Airline Quality Rating. The nationally recognized AQR study came to this conclusion after evaluating the service performance of 17 of the nation’s top airlines using 15 elements that are important to consumers when assessing the quality of airline service.
February 9, 2009 - Hawaiian Airlines extended its remarkable streak of punctuality for a fifth consecutive year in 2008, topping all other carriers in on-time performance at 90 percent, as reported by the U.S. DOT’s Air Travel Consumer Report. Hawaiian barely lost out on the nation’s top ranking for fewest misplaced bags, breaking a streak of three straight years in which it led the nation in delivering bags to customers.
October 28, 2008 - Hawaiian Airlines is the top-rated airline serving Hawaii and the fourth highest ranked airline nationwide, according to the 2008 Readers’ Choice Survey by Condé Nast Traveler magazine. Hawaiian’s signature ‘Hawaii Starts Here’ inflight service resonated with travelers to the islands.
May 29, 2008 - Hana Hou!, the inflight magazine for Hawaiian Airlines, received the 2008 Maggie Award for Best Travel/In-Transit Consumer magazine. Hana Hou!’s August/September 2007 issue focusing on Hawaiian family values earned the honor. Known as the “the Oscars of the magazine industry,” the Maggies recognize excellence in consumer and trade publications for print and online media.
February 5, 2008 - Hawaiian Airlines’ consistent leadership in customer service was reinforced by the U.S. DOT’s Air Travel Consumer Report for 2007, ranking as the nation’s top airline for both on-time performance and baggage service. This marked Hawaiian’s fourth straight year as the top on-time carrier, and third straight year as the nation’s leader in baggage service.
October 24, 2007 - Hawaiian’s First Class service proved to be a favorite of business travelers receiving the highest ratings in four of the six categories judged by Condé Nast Traveler in its 10th Annual Business Travel Awards. Hawaiian received the single-highest score in any category for its cabin service, and this was the fourth year of the past five that its First Class food and beverage service was the highest rated of all airlines.
August 8, 2007 - Reflecting its excellence in service, Hawaiian Airlines was ranked as the nation’s top airline serving Hawaii in Travel + Leisure’s 2007 World’s Best Awards. It marked the ninth straight year that Hawaiian has earned the honor, which resulted from Travel + Leisure inviting its readers to rate airlines based on cabin comfort, food, inflight service, customer service, and value. Hawaiian ranked third nationally.
June 19, 2007 - Hawaiian Airlines ranked as the nation’s top airline serving Hawaii, according to the 2007 World’s Best Service Awards announced by Travel + Leisure magazine. The award was just the latest national honor earned by Hawaiian. The July issue of Consumer Reports gave Hawaiian a “Best Buy” rating for offering the “best combination of service and price.” Hawaiian was one of only four airlines nationally and the only airline serving Hawaii to earn the “Best Buy” rating.
April 2, 2007 - Hawaiian Airlines was named the nation’s top-performing airline for 2006 in the 17th Annual Airline Quality Rating. The comprehensive study evaluated the nation’s 18 largest carriers using a weighted average of 15 elements in four major areas important to customers when judging quality airline service. This was the first year that Hawaiian was included in the AQR study.
February 7, 2007 - Hawaiian Airlines led the nation’s carriers in service performance for travelers in 2006, ranking #1 in both on-time performance and baggage handling, third in fewest oversales, and fourth in fewest flight cancellations, according to the U.S. DOT’s Air Travel Consumer Report. This marked Hawaiian’s third straight year leading the nation in on-time performance and second straight year in baggage handling.
November 13, 2006 - Hawaiian Airlines is the top-rated carrier serving Hawaii, according to the results of Condé Nast Traveler’s 2006 Readers’ Choice Survey. The magazine’s readers presented Hawaiian with this distinction for the third straight year. Hawaiian also ranked as the third highest airline nationally.
September 21, 2006 - A commitment to highlighting Hawaii’s culture, people and natural beauty paid off for Hawaiian Airlines, as the carrier’s inflight video entertainment won a prestigious international award at the 18th Annual Avion Awards. Hawaiian earned top honors for “Best Entertainment for Main Screen” in the small fleet category. More than 160 total entries from 42 airlines worldwide were submitted.
August 21, 2006 - Readers of Travel + Leisure have again recognized Hawaiian Airlines as their carrier of choice to Hawaii in the magazine’s World’s Best Awards for 2006. For the eighth straight year, Hawaiian was the top-rated airline serving Hawaii. Hawaiian was the sixth-highest rated airline nationally and the only airline serving Hawaii among the top 10.
June 19, 2006 - In another testament to its award-winning service, Hawaiian Airlines was ranked as the nation’s top airline serving Hawaii in the 2006 World’s Best Service Awards announced by Travel + Leisure. Hawaiian was ranked as the fifth highest rated airline nationally.
February 3, 2006 - Hawaiian Airlines led the nation’s carriers in service performance for 2005, earning the industry’s #1 ranking in three categories: on-time performance, baggage handling, and fewest flight cancellations. As reported in the U.S. DOT’s Air Travel Consumer Report, Hawaiian flights arrived on schedule an average of 95.1 percent during the year, exceeding the industry average by 17.7 percentage points. This marked the second consecutive year Hawaiian earned the DOT’s top overall scores for service excellence.
January 4, 2006 - Hawaiian Airlines continued its successful run in January as the nation’s #1 on-time airline for the 25th consecutive month, with 95.2 percent of its flights arriving as scheduled. According to the U.S. DOT’s Air Travel Consumer Report, Hawaiian has been America’s most punctual airline since November 2003, when the airline began voluntarily reporting its service performance statistics to the DOT.
November 16, 2005 - Two different consumer surveys issued this month on the service quality of domestic airlines have both ranked Hawaiian Airlines as the top carrier serving Hawaii. Condé Nast Traveler published its 2005 Readers’ Choice Awards reporting the opinions of 28,000 survey respondents. Zagat Survey, the world’s leading provider of survey-based travel information issued its findings from more than 5,000 travelers.
October 19, 2005 - Condé Nast Traveler’s Business Travel Awards for 2005 have ranked Hawaiian Airlines as offering the best meals in premium class nationwide. Hawaiian’s menus are designed by Maui-based Chef Beverly Gannon, co-founder of the internationally recognized Hawaii Regional Cuisine. This marks the second time in three years Hawaiian’s First Class meal service has earned Condé Nast’s highest ranking.
July 20, 2005 - Hawaiian Airlines earned international acclaim at the 2005 Airline Strategy Awards in London, winning the prestigious Finance Award in recognition of its successful restructuring over the past three years. Hawaiian’s turnaround saw the company go from record-breaking losses in 2002 to profitability in 2003 and 2004, while maintaining its commitment to creditors, suppliers, pension funds, and employees.
February 3, 2005 - The U.S. DOT issued its final Air Travel Consumer Report for 2004 showing that Hawaiian Airlines was the nation’s best-performing carrier for service quality. Hawaiian’s on-time performance averaged 93.9 percent during the year and led the industry each month. Hawaiian also ranked second overall in the airline industry for baggage handling and oversales.
December 2, 2004 - With a 95.3 percent on-time performance in October, Hawaiian Airlines completed its 12th straight month as the nation’s leader in this category, as reported by the U.S. DOT’s Air Travel Consumer Report. Hawaiian attained its industry-leading status by completely reforming its operations, improving how passengers were boarded, how bags were loaded, and how aircraft were cleaned and catered.
November 22, 2004 - Readers surveyed by Condé Nast Traveler have ranked Hawaiian Airlines ahead of all other carriers serving Hawaii, and as the fifth-best airline overall. Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers Choice Awards for 2004 asked their readership to rate domestic airlines in four categories: ticketing/ground services, cabin comfort, cabin service, and entertainment options. Hawaiian improved its standing nationally by five places, having been ranked 10th overall the previous year.
October 5, 2004 - Hawaiian Airlines ranked #1 for on-time performance, best baggage handling, and fewest flight cancellations in August 2003 among all airlines nationwide, according to the U.S. DOT’s Air Travel Consumer Report. Hawaiian had 95.5 percent of its flights arrive as scheduled during August. For the three-month peak summer travel season Hawaiian averaged 95.9 percent record of punctuality, by far the best three months of service that any airline has ever recorded.
September 29, 2004 - Hawaiian Airlines’ inflight entertainment program was recognized internationally with an impressive showing at the 16th Annual Avion Awards in Seattle. Hawaiian was named First Runner-Up in the category of “Best Video Magazine Style Program” and Second Runner-Up for “Best Inflight Audio Entertainment.” Hawaiian’s inflight entertainment highlights Hawaii’s culture, traditions, people, music, and places.
July 15, 2004 - Readers of Travel + Leisure magazine have ranked Hawaiian higher than any other airline serving Hawaii in the category of “Best Domestic Airline” for the 2004 World’s Best Awards. Readers rated the airlines based on cabin comfort, food, inflight service, customer service, and value. Hawaiian ranked fifth overall among airlines nationwide.
February 4, 2004 - Based on available industry data, Hawaiian finished 2003 with the best on-time performance of the top carriers reporting their results to the U.S. DOT. Hawaiian’s successful on-time service was enhanced in January 2003 when numerous “above and below wing” recommendations by front-line employees and management were implemented and collectively resulted in high flight schedule reliability.
December 18, 2003 - Through the first 10 months of 2003, Hawaiian Airlines was the nation’s #1 carrier for on-time service with 92.1 percent of its flights arriving on schedule. The figures were reached by QMark Research & Polling, which conducted a year-to-date industry analysis through October in preparation for Hawaiian’s voluntary filing of statistical reporting to the DOT for its monthly Air Travel Consumer Report.
October 21, 2003 - Condé Nast Traveler has rated Hawaiian as the nation’s leading carrier for superior meals and cabin service as part of its sixth annual Business Travel Awards. In reviewing Hawaiian, the magazine commented, “The big surprise is Hawaiian Airlines, which receives higher scores for Food/Beverages and Cabin Service than any other major.” Hawaiian ranked as the fifth-best airline overall.
August 26, 2003 - Hawaiian Airlines is the top-ranked airline serving Hawaii and the fourth highest ranked nationally, according to Travel + Leisure’s ‘World’s Best Awards’ Readers’ Survey for 2003. The awards were determined by magazine subscribers completing a questionnaire in the first quarter of the year.
July 14, 2003 - Travel + Leisure published its seventh annual World’s Best Service Readers’ Survey for 2003, showing that Hawaiian is the top-ranked carrier serving Hawaii and the fifth highest rated airline overall in providing service to customers. The magazine noted that readers agree the single biggest factor for companies making the list is their people.
April 30, 2003 - Disney’s blockbuster animated film, Lilo & Stitch, was also a winner for Hawaiian Airlines, as the company was honored with a “Reggie Award” for its marketing campaign as the movie’s exclusive domestic airline partner. The Reggie Awards, whose name is derived from “cash register” are to marketing promotions what the Oscars are to movies, rewarding excellence in planning, creativity, and execution. Hawaiian earned a Silver Reggie for its Lilo-themed campaign.
November 25, 2002 - Hawaiian Airlines was recognized on National Philanthropy Day as Hawaii’s Outstanding Corporation in 2002 for its commitment to giving back to the community. Hawaiian was nominated by the Honolulu Symphony, which has benefited from the airline’s support for the past four years. Hawaiian annually sponsors more than 30 organizations, including Bishop Museum, Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii, Honolulu Theatre for Youth, and the Merrie Monarch Festival.
March 26, 2002 - Hawaiian Airlines was honored with a Governor’s Kilohana Award recognizing the company’s employees for outstanding volunteerism in the “Sharing Aloha” project, the state’s hosting of New York rescue workers and families in December 2001. Hawaiian is the first company to receive the award in the business category, which was added this year. Hawaiian donated the use of two wide-body jets to provide free, roundtrip, non-stop flights between New York and Honolulu for the special visit.
August 9, 2001 - For the third straight year, readers of Travel + Leisure Magazine have ranked Hawaiian Airlines in the Top 3 of the nation’s airlines. This latest accolade is one of many the airline has won for its quality of service, which includes being ranked in the Top 10 of domestic airlines for nine consecutive years in Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Survey.
March 23, 2001 - Hawaiian Airlines scored the highest number of points and won Best Overall honors in the 2001 Zagat Survey of Premium U.S. Airlines. Hawaiian took first place in the service and food categories, and finished only one point behind the winner in the category of comfort.
