| Contract of Carriage : Rule 225 |
|
Baggage in excess of the maximum allowance specified in Rule 220 will be accepted for transportation only upon payment of excess baggage charges specified in this rule. Excess baggage charges will apply from the point at which baggage is accepted for transportation to the point to which baggage is checked or transported. Where there is no free baggage allowance specified in Rule 220, each piece of baggage will be subject to the charges described in this rule. NOTE: Baggage connecting to other airlines will also be subject to the connecting airline's excess charges, in addition to the originating carrier's excess charges.
- APPLICABLE CHARGES
Where the provisions of Rule 220 indicate a maximum acceptable number of pieces of baggage that will be carried free of charge, the piece(s) in excess of that maximum will be subject to the charges prescribed in paragraph B) below, and oversize pieces will be subject to the charges prescribed in paragraph D) below. Where the provisions of Rule 220 indicate a maximum acceptable weight that will be carried free of charge, the weight in excess of that maximum will be subject to the charges prescribed in paragraph C) below. Where the number of pieces exceeds maximum allowance and/or the piece(s) exceed maximum weight allowance, and/or the piece(s) exceed the maximum size restrictions set forth in Rule 220, charges in paragraphs B, C, and D will apply, as applicable.

EXCESS WEIGHT CHARGES Where the weight allowance for baggage exceeds 50 lbs. but not more than 70 lbs:
- Between points within the State of Hawaii, the charge will be $25.00 USD per overweight piece.
- Within the Continental USA or between the Continental USA and Hawaii the charge will be $50.00 USD per overweight piece.
NOTE: Excess weight charges will be assessed in addition to applicable charges for excess pieces and/or oversized baggage.
HA will not accept any item as checked baggage that weighs more than 70 lbs.
OVERSIZE BAGGAGE CHARGES Where the free baggage allowance is a per piece allowance, the charge for a piece which is acceptable under the terms of Rule 190 but which exceeds the maximum outside linear dimensions of 80" and/or accepted weight of 70 lbs. (Rule 220), HA will not accept the item as checked baggage.
For each piece which exceeds the normal linear dimensions of 62" but does not exceed 80" and does not exceed 70 lbs the following charges will apply.
- Between points within the State of Hawaii, the charge will be $25.00 USD per oversized piece.
- Within the Continental USA or between the Continental USA and Hawaii, the charge will be $100.00 USD for each oversized piece.
NOTE: These charges will be assessed in addition to applicable charges for excess pieces and/or overweight baggage.
