Hawaiian Airlines air freight charges are based on the gross weight of the shipment according to the greater of (a) the actual weight of the shipment or (b) its cubic dimensional weight.

The cubic dimensional weight of a shipment is calculated from the total cubic measurement divided by a factor of 194 (L x W x H divided by 194).

All dimensional measurements must be in inches. Multiply the Height (H) by the Width (W) by the Length (L) and divide by 194. Take the result and round up to the next whole number. To figure the gross weight for a multiple piece shipment, calculate the cubic dimensional weight for each piece, rounding up to the next whole pound. Add each of the whole numbers together to obtain the gross weight for the entire shipment.

For example, a package actually weighs 5 pounds but has dimensions of 11" high (H) by 12" wide (W) by 33" in length (L).

1.       Multiply the rounded dimensions: 11x12x33 = 4,356.

2.       Divide 4,356 by 194 = 22.45

3.       Round the result up to the next whole number (pound), or 23.

Therefore, the cubic dimensional weight for this piece is 23 lbs. Since the actual weight is only 5 lbs., the cubic dimensional weight of 23 lbs. will be used to calculate the carriage charge.
