In general pets can be shipped as cargo using Hawaiian Air Cargo as long as the temperature does not exceed 85 degrees F or is below 20 degrees F.

Health Certificate

Hawaiian Air Cargo requires a health certificate when shipping your pet as air cargo. The certificate must be issued by a licensed veterinarian within 10 days of transport. The certificate must contain:

  • the shipper's name and address
  • any tag numbers or tattoos assigned
  • the age of the animal being shipped
  • documentation stating that the animal is in good health
  • a list of administered inoculations, when applicable
  • the veterinarian's signature
  • certificate date

If the shipper knows that the pet is pregnant, it must be noted on the health certificate.

Tranquilizers

The use of pet tranquilizers at high altitudes is unpredictable. If you plan to sedate your pet, you must have written consent from the pet's veterinarian. This information must be attached to the kennel. Please keep in mind that Hawaiian agents cannot administer medication of any kind.

Safe Transport

Animals accepted as cargo are placed in the same area as checked baggage. To ensure the comfort of your pet, Hawaiian Airlines will ship your pet on non-stop flights, or flights involving one connection. The environment in the cargo compartment is temperature-controlled, pressurized and has oxygen flow.
