Overweight:

  • Baggage exceeding 50lbs, but not more than 70lbs.
  • Baggage exceeding 70lbs will not be accepted.

  • Baggage exceeding 62 linear inches, but not more than 80 linear inches.
  • Baggage exceeding 80 linear inches will not be accepted.

Coach Plus: Passengers connecting on the same reservation from another Hawaiian Airline Trans-Pacific flight, will be exempt from 1st and 2nd checked baggage fees.

    • Includes member along with travel companions on the same reservation (except for group bookings of 10 or more).
  • Corporate members
  • Customers traveling in First Class
  • Customers traveling on Military or Government Fares
  • Hawaiian Coach Plus Purchasers (Transpacific Itineraries)
  • Customers Traveling to / from International Destinations

Overweight / Oversize Baggage

Excess Baggage

  • Excess Baggage is accepted on a space available basis only. Hawaiian Airlines is not responsible for ground delivery at point to where excess piece(s) is/are checked.
  • Baggage connecting to other airlines will also be subject to the connecting airline's baggage charges, in addition to the originating carrier's baggage charges.
  • Baggage must comply with rules and restrictions if baggage is more than 50lbs/23kg but less than 70lbs/32kg must also collect overweight baggage fees along with the checked baggage charge.
  • No article will be accepted for transportation if the maximum outside linear dimensions exceed 80 inches or if the article weighs more than 70 pounds.
    • Exception 1:
      • Hawaiian Airlines will accept one article weighing more than 70lbs but less than 80lbs tendered by a representative of the United States Secret Service or white house communication agency.
    • Exception 2:
      • This provision does not apply to duffel bags, sea bags, or B-4 Bags (Rule 115), Sporting Equipment (Rule 100), Live Animals (Rule 105), or Cabin Baggage (Rule 110)
    • Exception 3:
      • This provision does not apply to assistive devices or mobility aids as defined in 14 CFR Part 382.

Additional Notes:

  • Excess pieces are accepted on space available basis only.
  • Hawaiian Airlines will not accept any baggage that weighs more than 70lbs.
  • Hawaiian Airlines shall not be responsible for the ground delivery of checked baggage not accommodated on the flight.
  • Assistive devices such as walkers, crutches and wheelchairs will be exempt from checked baggage fees.
  • Car seat, stroller or infant carrier will be exempt from checked baggage fees when adult is traveling with a child. (Excluding jogging strollers)
  • Baggage Fees are Non-Refundable whether checked-in online, via kiosk, or at the airport ticket counters.
  • First Class Baggage Fees
    • If the passenger checked in prior to their upgrade, they will not be refunded any paid checked bag fees.  Checked bag fees are based on the status of class ticketed at the time of check-in.
    • If a passenger upgrades to First Class by Web Check-in, Kiosk, or Mileage upgrade prior to check-in, they will also receive the First Class exemption from Baggage Fees.

International Connections

  • Customers traveling on international itineraries will not be charged first and second bag fees, regardless whether the segment is on Hawaiian Airlines or another carrier, or if there
    is a stopover.
    • NOTE: Canada is considered part of the United States for purposes of determining applicable baggage rules and fees, and will be subject to the same fees as U.S. domestic travel.
  • In order for the customer to fall under the international baggage rules, the customer’s PNR must reflect international travel or the customer must provide reference


Carry-On Baggage

Linear inches is defined as: Length + Width + Height

Must fit in overheard compartment or under seat.
Each ticketed passenger allowed 1 piece and 1 personal item.

Maximum Size:

  • 45 linear inches / 114 centimeters (9 height x 14 width x 22 length)

Maximum Weight:

  • 25 lbs / 11.5 kg

Personal Items:

Hawaiian Airlines has a limit of one (1) piece of carry-on baggage, subject to change without notice.  In addition to the carry-on bag, passengers may also carry one (1) of the following personal items.

  1. Normal size handbag
  2. Small camera, video camera
  3. Briefcase, laptop bag or small backpack
  4. Diaper bag and infant's food needed by the passenger inflight
  5. One box/bag of duty free merchandise

Additional Items:

In addition to the maximum allowances provided above, each fare-paying passenger may carry, without additional charge, the following articles of baggage only when retained in the passenger's custody.

  1. Handbag or pocketbook
  2. Overcoat or wrap
  3. Foot rug
  4. Umbrella or walking stick
  5. Camera and/or a pair of binoculars
  6. Reasonable amount of reading material for the flight
  7. Infant's food for consumption enroute
  8. Any assistive device or mobility aid
  9. Collapsible wheelchair and/or crutches and/or braces or other prosthetic device on the same flight with passenger dependent on the device.

Strollers and car seats may be checked in at the gate free of charge.  Car seats, bassinets, infant carrying seats, or strollers are accepted as check-in baggage, free of charge, for the accompanying ticketed adult passenger, as long as traveling with the child. (There is no separate baggage allowance for infants held in a passenger's lap.)

The primary storage area is the space under the seat in front of the passenger. The overhead compartments are on a first come, first serve basis and are for all passengers. If the carry on item is unable to be safely stored under the seat in front of the passenger or in the overhead compartment, or if all storage areas are full, the passenger may be asked to stow their carry-on baggage in the cargo compartment of the aircraft for pick-up upon the arrival of the passenger.
